2.Small-Group Louisiana Plantations Tour with Gourmet Lunch from New Orleans

★★★★★★★★★★5.0 · 135 reviews · 7 hours 30 minutes (approx.) · from $219Top rated

Travel from New Orleans in a small 14-passenger van to Destrehan Plantation and Houmas House. Expect guided mansion tours, the 1811 Slave Revolt Exhibit, oak-lined grounds, and an unlimited buffet with gumbo, catfish, crawfish étouffée, and bread pudding. Guides such as Giselle, René, and Stephen are praised for lively local history.

“The tour guide was a cheerful lady full of Louisiana facts. Houmas House was lovely. The guide there knew his stuff and the gardens were great. The food was a buffet there in a cafeteria and it was fine, not amazing. Destrehan isn't really worth it. The guide was very nice but mostly inarticulate, so I didn't learn much. I'd recommend doing a tour to Houmas and maybe some other plantation, instead. Still, it was a relaxing day out of the city.”

“I do wish the train provided a wine tasting and the salmon should be served with rice or mashed potatoes. But other than that it was great. My friend and I enjoyed the experience. Priscilla and Lilly were great ! Super friendly and they know their stuff ! I recommend it ! I know it doesn’t say wine tasting. I’m just simply saying it would be a nice touch to the experience.”
